Privacy Policy
Effective July 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Caravann collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Caravann, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information: your name, email address, and either a password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google, plus the avatar you choose.
Content you create: groups, plans (including any dates and locations you add), RSVPs, chat messages, polls and votes, trip itineraries, and expense entries.
Billing information: if you subscribe to Pro or Team, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your payment details directly — we only receive your subscription status and billing dates, never your full card number.
Usage & log data: basic technical logs (like error reports and request metadata) we use to keep the Service reliable and secure.
2. How we use your information
- To operate the Service — showing your plans, messages, and groups to you and the people you share them with
- To process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe
- To send account-related emails, like sign-in confirmations
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use
- To fix bugs and improve the Service
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't run ads.
3. Third-party services we use
Caravann relies on a small number of trusted providers to run the Service:
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing
- Google — optional sign-in via Google OAuth
- Vercel — application hosting
- Neon — our Postgres database provider
- OpenStreetMap / CARTO — map tiles used to display plan locations
Each of these providers only receives the information necessary to perform their function and is bound by their own privacy practices.
4. Location data
Caravann does not access your device's GPS location. Locations shown on the map come only from addresses or pins that you or your group members manually add to a plan.
5. Cookies & sessions
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data sharing
Content you post in a group (plans, messages, RSVPs, expenses) is visible to the other members of that group — that's the point of Caravann. If a group is set to “public,” its name and category are visible to other users browsing public groups. We only share data outside the Service with the providers listed above, or if required by law.
7. Data retention & deletion
Group owners can permanently delete a group at any time from group settings, which removes its plans, messages, and other content. To delete your account entirely, email us at caravann.support@gmail.com and we'll remove your personal data, except where we're required to keep billing records for legal or tax purposes.
8. Children's privacy
Caravann isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures — including password hashing, encrypted connections, and rate limiting on sensitive endpoints — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
10. Your rights
You can request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing caravann.support@gmail.com.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above.
